What is Direct Assistance Corporation?
Direct Assistance Corp (DAC)
is a financial assistance program designed to increase workplace productivity
by providing employees access to user-friendly personal finance services,
including:
- Financial Education

Tools
- Payroll Debit Cards

How can DAC help businesses?
The #1 distraction in today’s
workplace is employee finances. DAC helps alleviate financial stress
by helping employees take control of their money.
Our financial education and
online budgeting tools can help increase productivity by allowing employees
to keep their finances organized. Our payroll debit cards help businesses
avoid the cost, hassle, and environmental impact that come with printing
and distributing paper checks. Our emergency advances ensure that business
owners won’t have to handle direct requests for pay advances; they will have
peace of mind knowing that their employees don’t have to live paycheck to
paycheck.
This free benefit will also
help employees know that their employers care about their financial
well-being, creating a more committed work environment, which then can lead to increased productivity.
How do I sign up my business
for these benefits?
Contact us today at 1.888.532.2435 and
request a free consultation. Every month we run promotions for new businesses
that sign up!
Will it cost me anything
to sign up for DAC?
Our services are completely
free. Our implementation process is designed to make choosing DAC quick
and painless for the businesses we serve. All we require from you is
a little time and a desire to help your employees gain control of their
finances (and help yourself a little along the way!).
Financial Education
How does your
financial education program work?
We looked high and low for
the right company to provide employees with the best financial education
available and are proud to partner with 8 Pillars. We’ve found that
8 Pillars’ content and delivery is second-to-none in providing
quality financial information.
By signing up with DAC, your
employees will have free access to the e-book, 8 Pillars of Financial
Greatness ($20 value) and other online materials (including interactive
learning modules, financial calculators, and articles).
How does your financial
education program help employers?
Employees who have their finances
in line are statistically more productive, have better workplace attendance, are
more satisfied with their pay, and feel more committed to the organization
they work for. According to The Federal Reserve, “The average employee
spends 28 hours each month worried about, calculating, or stressing
over finances, costing employers $5,000 a year in lost productivity.”
According to a Workplace Options
survey, 40% of employees thought it was important for employers to offer
financial education, and 60% said they would take advantage of financial
education if it were offered.
How does your financial
education program help employees?
Employees will have access
to quality, interactive financial information which will help them with
the sometimes confusing and challenging task of setting and then working
toward personal financial goals. They will learn how to responsibly manage their money.

Money Management Tool
What
do your online management tools provide?
We have partnered with Money
Desktop to offer budgeting and financial planning tools at no cost to
anyone registered with DAC (non-DAC customers pay $19.95/month for this
service).
Employees will be able to sync
the Money Desktop system with their bank accounts, so that all transactions
are categorized and put into effective and simple management tools.
How do DAC’s money management tools help employers?
Employers who offer their employees
access to our budgeting program have found that it has helped their
employees feel more confident about their finances, which has a dramatic
effect on the workplace.
Why is budgeting important
and how does Money Desktop help?
Anyone who manages and keeps a budget is 68% more likely to get out
of debt and stay out of debt. However, according to Harris Interactive,
42% of Americans don’t follow a budget.
With our online budgeting tool,
we make this easy. The user-friendly system walks users through
the system to get started. After the budget is set, users are not required
to spend hours every week keeping their budget in check, as everything
is automated with Money Desktop. We help them set up the budget and
then monitor it to alert them when they get close to exceeding their
budget.
Is Money Desktop secure?
We have provided accessibility
at no cost to your security. Although our tools are online, we use the
most up-to-date and secure portals available to keep your financial
information and identity safe.
How do employees access
Money Desktop?
Employees can access our online
budgeting tools on their DAC main login page. After logging into their account,
employees just need to click the “get started” button under the
“Money Management Tool” section. This will direct them to their
personalized Money Desktop page where they can build and manage their
budget.
Payroll Debit Card
How do payroll debit cards
help businesses?
An estimated 20% of American
employees are not qualified, unwilling, or unsure of how to set up a
traditional bank account to receive their direct deposit, so businesses
have generally had do deal with the costly hassle of paper checks. DAC
has provided a solution to this problem by providing payroll debit cards
(or “plastic paychecks”) for any unbanked employees of our business
clients.
Our payroll debit cards only
need to be distributed once, which means the employer doesn’t have
to deal with the usual distribution hassle of payday ever again. A
company with 100 employees receiving paper checks, at an average cost
of $1.35 per check, paid twice monthly, will cost employers $3,240
annually!Through the use of this card employees will no longer have
to leave work to go cash a check.
Using payroll debit cards instead
of paper has the side benefit of helping your business be more environmentally
responsible. When Wal-Mart moved all their paper check employees to
debit cards in September 2009, they saved 257,572 pounds of paper the
next year. That’s more than a few trees (and a few dollars) preserved.
How do payroll debit cards
help employees?
Employees gain immediate access
to their money on their card on payday, which is far more convenient
that paper checks. No more having to come in on your day off just to
pick up your paycheck or wasting your break time in line at the bank
or check cashing store!
Our payroll cards also save
money for people who are generally paying fees at banks and check cashing
stores to cash their paychecks. According to The Wall Street Journal,
“Over a lifetime, the average full-time, unbanked worker will spend
more than $40,000 just to turn his or her salary into cash.”
For employees who already
have direct deposit, there are advantages to switching to our payroll
debit card as well. While all employees registered with DAC have access
to emergency advances, those with our debit card can receive their pay
advances immediately, instead of having to wait until the next business
day. Employees with our payroll debit card also avoid NSF fees that
may be charged by their current bank.
Every employee can qualify to
receive direct deposit on our payroll debit card. We've worked hard to ensure that enrolling for the
program is a quick and simple process.
Who provides your payroll
debit card?
We have partnered with Paycard
USA to offer businesses and their employees our payroll debit cards.
They can be used anywhere that MasterCard is accepted and the funds
are backed by the FDIC-insured Palm Desert National Bank.
Is there a charge for the
card?
There is no fee for just having
the card issued to employees of businesses we serve.
Certain card services (such
as money transfers and ATM withdrawals) may require fees, please see
the paperwork that comes with the card in the mail for specific details.
How can I get a payroll
debit card?
If you are enrolled with DAC,
you can login at www.directassistancecorp.com and then click on “Order Card”
(on the button for “Payroll Debit Card”). After filling out a brief
application, you’re good to go!
The card will be mailed to
you and generally takes 5 to 10 business days to arrive. Once you receive
it, simply call the number provided with the card to activate and contact your payroll department with the listed direct deposit information.
Emergency Cash Advance
Why are emergency cash advances
a part of your financial wellness package?
According to The Wall Street
Journal, 70% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. This
means that the majority of your employees or coworkers are one unexpected
expense away from financial crisis. Here at DAC, we understand that
financial needs come up from time to time that can’t wait until next
payday. We also understand that while employers would like to help
their employees, they don’t want to have to deal with requests for pay advances.
In order to avoid employees from
turning to costly payday loans, bank overdraft programs, or the embarrassment
and hassle of asking their boss for a pay advance, we provide a basic
pay advance service. For a small fee that is paid back on the employee’s
next paycheck, we are able to provide these advances at a fraction of
the cost they would have to pay at a payday loan store or to their bank
if they overdrew their account.
Who is qualified for an
emergency advance?
Anyone who is registered with
DAC and receiving direct deposit from their employer is qualified
to get an emergency advance. This service is available whether
direct deposit is going onto one of our payroll debit cards or any other
bank account/card.
How does your pay advance
system work?
Employees can request a pay
advance either by logging into their online DAC account and filling
out the form at the “emergency advances” button or by calling
our customer service line at 888.532.2435. Once their information has
been verified, we will send the money to their account. If they are
using our payroll debit card, the money will be on the card within 15
minutes of approval; if they are using a different bank account or card,
the money will be available the morning of the next business day.
On the date of the employee’s
next paycheck, we will automatically withdraw the amount advanced as
well as a flat fee of $15 per $100 borrowed.
How can you offer
pay advances at lower rates than payday loan companies?
Since we only offer pay advances
to DAC-registered clients, we know that anyone requesting an advance
is employed at a reputable business. We can also easily confirm that
the advance will be paid back from the account that the employee is
receiving direct deposit into. Since DAC-registered employees are lower
risk than the typical payday loan customer, we can offer the low flat
rate instead of the high percentage APR of a payday lender.
